Most of my friends on the left regard the fate of the victims as terrible but somehow in some way deserved or at least inevitable, somewhat akin to that of German civilians raped and slaughtered by the advancing Red Army. Zionism is now seen as the supreme global evil and Israeli Jews as its essential practitioners. All means must be deployed to defeat it, and them, no matter how terrible
